Spain has revived a push for Basque, Catalan and Galician to be made official EU languages, despite a less-than-enthusiastic response from fellow European countries fearing a domino effect.

Let’s be clear that many Spaniards do not support this and support following the constitution. The constitution is very clear that Spanish is the national language in all territories. The constitution also protects three languages and our governed within those regions by local law. So constitutionally this really cannot happen, apart the very high cost of doing this. What this is really about his political blackmail by Catalan independence politicians
