Hollywood to make film about Spanish wine heist
Hollywood producers are looking to make a movie about two thieves who in 2021 stole €1.6m (£1.4m) worth of expensive wine from a high-end restaurant in Cáceres (Extremadura) in a heist that made international headlines.
The pair, who were sentenced to four and a half years in prison, will be paid a fixed amount and a percentage of the movie’s revenue for ceding the rights to the story of their lives and the robbery, their lawyer has confirmed.

Changes to Spain’s land law rejected for second time
Spain’s ruling Socialists have for the second time in under a year withdrawn their amended land law due to a lack of support in Congress, with only the Basque Nationalist Party backing it.

Sánchez announces new €1 billion military aid package for Ukraine
Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, said this week that Spain will support Ukraine for "as long as necessary" and has taken advantage of his visit to Kiev, the fourth since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, to announce a new military aid package worth €1 billion for 2025.
On the trip, Sánchez also reiterated Spain's support for "the full sovereignty of Ukraine" and expressed his conviction that "only Ukraine can decide" its own future.
"Ukraine must be at the negotiating table," he said during a summit in Kiev for the third anniversary of the outbreak of the war, clearly hinting at the direct US-Russia talks started by President Trump without Ukrainian involvement in recent weeks.
Spain’s trans Oscar nominee to attend ceremony despite tweet row
Actor Karla Sofia Gascón will be at this weekend's Oscars ceremony in Hollywood, despite weeks of controversy over offensive past comments and being frozen out of Netflix's awards campaign, media reports said.
Gascón, the first transgender woman nominated for best actress for her role in narco musical "Emilia Perez," has been absent from the film world's glitzy awards season after old Islamophobic and racist social media posts were unearthed.
