Spanish rental prices rose by 15 percent in last year
Average rents in Spain rose by 2 percent month-on-month and a staggering 15 percent year-on-year in January, bringing the average price to €13.55 per m/2 per month, according to data from the Fotocasa Real Estate Index.
Spain went from a year-on-year variation of 5.1 percent in January 2024 to 15 percent in the same period of 2025, showing that there’s no sign of the skyrocketing prices slowing down anytime soon.
Incredibly, prices increased in 16 of the 17 regions and only fell in Cantabria (-1.1 percent). The regions with the highest increases were Castilla-La Mancha (19.9 percent), Madrid (18.4 percent), Murcia (15.0 percent), Navarra (14.7 percent), La Rioja (14.5 percent) and Cataluña (14.1 percent).
Vueling launches five new international flight routes from Barcelona this summer
Vueling will launch five new international routes from Barcelona’s El Prat airport this summer. The new flights will go to Tivat (Montenegro), Rimini, Salerno (Italy), Essaouira (Morocco) and Tirana (Albania).
The budget airline expects to offer 9 percent more weekly seats compared to summer 2024, with a special focus on strengthening Barcelona's international connectivity, with a 13 percent increase in seats offered to international destinations during the peak summer season.
Vueling will offer 16 million seats in Barcelona during the summer of 2025, connecting the city with more than 90 destinations, of which 70 will be international.

Record visitor numbers for Barcelona's Sagrada Familia
Barcelona’s famous Sagrada Família broke its record number of visitors last year.
In 2024, a total of 4,833,658 people visited the church, consolidating its position as one of the most visited monuments in the world. It ended the year with €133.9 million in income, all private and most of it earmarked for its construction.
Wetherspoons may open pubs in Spain
Wetherspoons, one of the UK's most famous pub franchises, has plans for future international expansion and Spain seems to be among the plans.
Tim Martin, the controversial owner of the franchise, told the British tabloids that the pub group were “looking into it” in terms of expansion, and are reportedly focusing on three well-known locations for British tourists: Alicante, Majorca and Benidorm.
“Now there is an opportunity for franchises abroad,” Martin said.
