Alicante's airport, which in Spanish is called Aeropuerto de Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, may not be among the top ten busiest in Spain, but it still operates tens of thousands of flights every year to a wide variety of destinations.
From January to October 2024, it handled a total of 15.8 million passengers, 16.5 percent more than for the same period in 2023.
It is in fact the gateway to Spain's Costa Blanca, and a closer option than Valencia airport for those travelling to or from Alicante city, Benidorm, La Marina, Torrevieja and other popular spots with foreigners.
