Relief at last: Spain heatwave comes to an end with storms
After a week that has seen temperatures soar to record breaking heights for September, the air is finally set to cool over the weekend.
Thunderstorms are expected to hit northeastern region of Catalonia with Spain’s meteorological agency Aemet issuing amber alerts for inland areas.

Elsewhere in Spain temperatures had fallen by around 10C by Thursday night down from a high earlier in the week that saw some regions reach 45C.
Across most of Spain temperatures hovered between 25 C and 32C and were expected to stay that way over the weekend before cooling further next week.
