This everyday word means cardboard but it is also necessary vocab when it comes to Bingo.

When recycling you will see a blue container with papel and cartón. The word also refers to a bingo card and milk or eggs cartons:

  • Procura doblar o cortar bien los papeles y cartones antes de depositarlos en el contenedor.

         Try to fold or cut paper and cardboard well before depositing them in the container.

 

  • ¡Compra dos cartones de leche para el postre!

         Buy two cartons of milk for dessert!

 

If you are talking about a Bingo ticket:

  • Cuando le tocó el Bingo yo ni siquiera había marcado un número en mi cartón.

        When he shouted "Bingo!" I still hadn't marked any number on my card.

 

In a Shakira song there is a part where Alejandro Sanz says: “Yo sé que no he sido un santo; Es que no estoy hecho de cartón”. Can you guess the meaning by listening the whole song?
