About the property

It’s a very unique building set over three floors with a vast central courtyard, and galleried landing that could be turned into a wonderful guest house or hotel with a destination restaurant.

Once a social club serving the town of Belmonte, near Cuenca, the house boast original tiles and still has the crest of club on its wall.

Thick stone walls protect from the harsh climate of the plains of Castilla-La Manch, true Don Quixote country, and the inside features old wooden beams.

Highlights include a  huge central skylight and a  grand sweeping double staircase with marble balustrade.

It currently has five bedrooms within the 1,256 m² property and a private garden.

It hasn’t been renovated, or even decorated for 50 years so needs totally refurbishment.

Location:

The house is in the middle of Belmonte, a town with a population of around 2,500, in the province of Cuenca, an hour from the provincial capital.

Well off the beaten tourist track, it is just over an hour and a half drive from Madrid and two hours from Valencia

On a hilltop overlooking the town is the superb fifteenth century Belmonte Castle, built in the 15th Century in the Gothic-Mudejar style, now fully restored and open to the public.

The price:

It's being offered by Alfafincas for just €120,000 but there's room to negotiate and you'll need plenty in reserve for the renovations.
