Staff at the Hotel Mirasierra Suites reportedly called police early Wednesday morning after hearing the row taking place in the hotel room where the 56-year-old former captain and his girlfriend Rocío Oliva, 26, were staying.
Paramedics were also called to the scene, according to a report on Spanish news agency Efe, but after establishing that no one had sustained any injuries they left.
"When the agents and emergency services arrived, those people (Maradona and his girlfriend) showed no sign of injuries and did not press charges, there was just a discussion," police sources told AFP.
Police who arrived just before 8.30am were told that neither Maradona, or his girlfriend wanted to file a complaint.
Maradona had been invited to Madrid to give a pre-match team talk to Napoli ahead of their Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
He reportedly got into an altercation with a journalist at the doors of the hotel late Tuesday night.
