Spain’s public holidays in 2017: Official list

Spain will have a total of 12 bank holidays in 2017. So get organized and start planning some weekends away.

Disheartened at the thought of going back at work after the Christmas holidays? The good news is that you can start planning your puentes - the Spanish custom of taking the day off to bridge the weekend with the holiday.

Here is the official list of all the public holidays across Spain, as published in Spain's BOE official state bulletin.

The nine national public holidays in 2017 across all of Spain are:

January 6th: Dia de los Reyes Magos, Three Kings Day, Epiphany. (Friday)

April 14th: Good Friday

May 1st: Workers' Day

August 15th: Assumption of Mary, (Tuesday)

October 12th:  Spanish National Day, (Thursday)

November 1st: All Saints’ Day (Wednesday)

December 6th: Constitution Day (Wednesday)

December 8th: Immaculate Conception, (Friday)

December 25th: Christmas Day (Monday)

Apart from these national dates, all regions have additional holidays. See below for the full list.

Andalusia

January 2nd (Monday after New Year's Day)

February 28th: Andalusia Day (Tuesday)

April 13th: Maundy Thursday

 

Aragon

January 2nd (Monday after New Year's Day)

April 13th: Maundy Thursday

April 24th: Monday after April 23rd which is St George’s Day and Aragon regional day 

 

Asturias

January 2nd (Monday after New Year's Day)

September 8th: Asturian Regional Day (Friday)

And don't forget your local municipality will also have two days of holidays, dependent on the local patron saint days.
