Winter is coming: Cold front brings snow to northern Spain
Temperatures plummet across Spain today with a cold front bringing the first snowfall to the north of the peninsula.
Snow fell on mountainous areas across the north of Spain from Galicia through Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country to the Pyrenees.
The state weather agency, AEMET, warned that snow can be expected in areas above 800 meters across northern Spain, while coastal parts will be battered by high winds and heavy rain.
Several provinces were put on yellow alert for heavy snow including Burgos, Palencia, Leon and parts of Cantabria and Asturias.
