A 46-year-old mother of two young children was drink driving with her kids in tow on Saturday near Vidreres, Catalonia, according to newspaper La Vanguardia.

As the family approached a gas station, the older child, 11, feigned to the mother that he had to go to the bathroom.

But as soon as they arrived at the station, the boy found a worker there and reported that his mother was unable to drive and had been doing zigzags on the road. He asked the gas station worker to call the police.

When officers arrived, the mother appeared anxious and as if she were under the influence of alcohol, according to La Vanguardia. Broadcaster Cadena Ser reported that she was very annoyed, yelling at and insulting her children

The officers arrested her after she refused to take an alcohol and drug test.

The children were taken to a juvenile care centre. Social services must now determine what kind of visitation rights the mother - who had a previous criminal record - will be granted.
