Spain’s national weather agency, Aemet has issued a special warning for severe storms, wind and high seas this weekend, putting 30 provinces on alert for adverse conditions - including snow - across the country.

In a statement issued on its website, Aemet said the storms would last from Friday until Monday and would affect "the whole peninsula".

A front moving in from northern Spain will sweep across the country on Friday, bringing rain, snow and strong winds.

The weather will reach the Balearic Islands by Saturday morning, according to Aemet.

The snow level could descend to as low as 400 - 600 metres across the country, great news for Spain’s ski resorts.
