Both the Civil Guard and traffic police are looking to catch the biker that performed a high-speed wheelie along a motorway on the Canary Island and the driver of a car that recorded it and then uploaded the film onto social media.

The incident took place near Lanzarote’s capital, Arrecife, in the east of the island.

Police want the driver of a car who filmed the high-speed stunt, as both men violated traffic safety laws, "putting not only themselves at risk, but also their fellow motorists", according to local newspaper La Opinión de Tenerife.

Under Spain’s Penal Code, the pair could face a prison sentence of between two to five years, a heavy fine and a driving ban of six to ten years.

Police are calling on locals to help them in the search for the two men.
