An escaped bull has injured 11 people, including a young wheelchair user, after escaping from a festival in the Spanish town of Talavera de la Reina.

A shocking video has emerged of the bull stampeding towards a young boy in a wheelchair before knocking him down. Onlookers scream as the animal breaks free, tearing through the town, near the city of Toledo just south of Madrid.

Warning: The following video includes graphic images.

The bull broke free as he was being transported to take part in a festival celebrating San Isidro, the patron Saint of Madrid, and tore through the town until finally it was run over by a police car.

The nine-year-old boy suffered facial injuries and a 30-year-old man was gored in the left thigh. Both were taken to hospital, along with the nine other people who were injured.

The mayor of Talavera de la Reina, Jaime Ramos, told waiting media that none of the injuries caused by the bull were life threatening and an investigation would be launched into how the animal escaped.

The bull escaped while it was being unloaded at the town’s bull ring, where festivities were due to take place.

Bullfighter Sergio Blasco has been criticized for posing for a selfie with the dead bull after it was run over by police.
