A bar in northern Spain sparked outrage with a sexist job ad for "big breasted waitresses".

The advertisement was removed from a job site after a flurry of complaints over the wording of the text.

Under the heading “Looking for a barmaid to attract attention”, the establishment owner in Asturias described the perfect candidate: "Young girl for a small bar who has a good appearance and is attention grabbing. Must have big breasts, a desire to work and some experience."

The ad appeared on the internet portal www.milanuncios.com on Sunday but it was taken down within 24 hours after a barrage of complaints.

But according to the website, 13 applications were made to the bar, which has not been identified, before the offending notice was removed. Not surprising considering the country has 23 per cent unemployment rising to over 50 per cent among the youth.

People turned to social media to call for others to complain about the offending advert to get it removed while feminist groups slammed it as “disgraceful show of sexism”.
