Ex-boyfriend jailed for Facebook message

A man who was banned from getting in touch with his ex-girlfriend has had his appeal overthrown and will serve nine months in prison for commenting on her Facebook photo
In October 2012 a specialized Domestic Violence court in Palma, Majorca passed a protection order against the man, which included not being allowed to contact his ex-partner by any means, including online.
But only five days later the man left a sarcastic comment under his ex-partner’s profile picture on Facebook saying "showing them what you've got I see, babe (a la vete a enseñarlo guapa)".
Now, a court in Palma has overthrown the man’s appeal and confirmed he must serve nine months in prison for breaching the restraining order.
The man had appealed his conviction, citing that the court could not prove who sent the Facebook message or that he had breached his restraining order.
But the court in Palma said the man was "completely conscious" of the fact his Facebook message "was an infringement of the restraining order."
