Runners in the southern Spanish city of Seville celebrated in style with coloured paint after finishing a messy 5-kilometre (3 mile) fun run on Sunday.

The Andalucian city was covered in colour at the weekend as runners took part in 'The Color Run', an untimed 5K race with the aim of promoting healthy living and encouraging youth participation in sport.

Runners dress in while but at each kilometre point they are doused with a different color of paint powder.

'The Color Run' has been held across the United States but only once previously in Spain.

An event in March in Barcelona and Sunday's run in Seville were both organized by Barcelona-based fashion label Desigual.

In 2013, The Color Run became the biggest individual race series in the world, with events in 200 cities involving 1.8 million people.
