Official: Spanish women are Europe’s hottest

Spanish women have come out top in a new survey looking at people's preferred nationality when it comes to finding their dream partner.


Spanish women crushed the competition with people in France, Britain, Belgium, Germany and Portugal all saying they rated women from the country number one when it comes to choosing someone for a romantic date.

These are the results of a new poll of 50,000 people run by travel site Go Euro.

The company asked people from eight European countries to rate people from the other seven countries to come up with their results.  

For women, Italian lovers are top of the heap. They were ranked as the most attractive partners by a majority of the British, Spanish and Portuguese women aged between 18 and 35.

Brits came second, surprisingly beating French lovers and undermining French romantic stereotypes.

British respondents fell in line with European trends with 30 percent of British men also opting for a romantic date with a Spanish woman, while 29 percent of British women also voted Italian men as top European lovers.

“It is obvious that Europeans like to flirt with other Europeans from all different nationalities,” comments Benjamin Bak, CEO and Co-founder of social dating app Lovoo, used to collect the survey results.

"This is especially true during the summer months when many people use the app to flirt and meet people while travelling and on holiday."

Spanish men liked Italian women most while Spanish women found Italians most desirable, as did their European counterparts. 

Spanish women rates Brits as the second most appealing group for a romantic date, while Brits came in third for Spanish men.
