Buenos Aires police discovered an original scheme for smuggling drugs out of Argentina when they found skis stuffed with cocaine on Thursday.

Five Argentines and two Spaniards were arrested in raids in the city in connection with the ruse.

"They had seven pairs of skis containing 14 kilos (30 pounds) of cocaine that was meant to go to Spain," said Argentine Security Secretary Sergio Berni.

The group also sold ecstasy tablets in trendy bars and clubs in the Argentine capital, officials said.

Searches conducted in high-end Buenos Aires neighborhoods resulted in the seizure of chemical precursors that would have made 40,000-50,000 tablets.
