'Priest oral sex video not a hoax': Police

Spanish Police have announced that a video released last May showing a priest receiving oral sex from a young man in a forest is indeed real.

Francisco Javier Ruiz, a priest in the Murcian town of Churra, claimed the video in which a cleric is seen engaging in fellatio with another man was not him.

"I have never been to Cotos Cuadros forest and I do not recognize myself in these images that are said to be of me," online daily La Verdad reported him as saying back in May.

"This must be a fake. This material should be destroyed because if it is not it is going to create a scandal."

But a police investigation into the matter has led officers to dismiss Ruiz's claims, having found no evidence that the video was staged or tampered with.

The video's author has also told Spanish police that he didn't know who the two men were nor did he upload the video to social media platforms.

Church bosses in Cartagena removed the disgraced cleric from his position after the footage became a trending topic on Twitter and Facebook.

The video shows a bicycle ride filmed by a cyclist who is taking pictures when he suddenly passes a figure dressed in black masturbating and performing an act of oral sex with another man.

Coto Cuadros, the forest where the footage was taken, is renowned for being a cruising hotspot – a place where people perform anonymous, casual public sex.
