The IT spy moved home when he found out police had begun alerting his neighbours, but there is no evidence yet that he has continued to film strangers’ lives to add to his collection of explicit videos.

The 34-year-old developed a programme that allowed him to hack his neighbours’ Wi-Fi connections, activate their web cams whenever he pleased and have access to all their personal videos and photos.

Zaragoza police first arrested the man a year ago but released him with charges while he awaited trial, news daily ABC reported on Friday.

They had initially received the lead that the solitary IT expert had been sharing vast amounts of child pornography from his computer.

It was only when they did a thorough search of his laptop that they found thousand of “intimate” videos of strangers hidden away as well.

No evidence has been found of him sharing any of the candid content with other internet users.
