November in Spain brings a wonderful choice of cultural events, from dance to local liquor-sipping to tapas-tasting.
Culture
International Puppet Festival, Tolosa, Basque Country, November 28th - December 4th
The Titirijai attracts professional puppeteers from around the world allowing young and adult audiences to enjoy a wide range of performances. The event showcases stories based on classic texts combined with colourful, modern and innovative dramatisations. Spanish and international companies stage their shows at various venues around the town.
Les Fires de Sant Narcis, Girona, until November 6th
Catch the last of the festival, honouring Girona's patron saint. The traditional fest includes dancing, music and of course Catalonian sport of castell - human tower-building.
Madrid en Danza, November 16th - December 9th

The annual international dance festival kicks off in the Spanish capital with troupes from around the world arriving to perform anything from flamenco to ballet - to avant-garde naked shows.

National Tapas and Pinchos Competition, Valladolid, November 7th - 9th

If you're as serious about tapas as the chefs in this competition, then head over to the town of Valladolid in Castile and Leon as some of Spain's top chefs battle it out for the top €6,000 prize.

Local Cantabrian residents will get ready to raise their glasses for the annual festival celebrating orujo - a kind of brandy popular in northern Spain. The fest will also feature a wide variety of traditional food and entertainment. inspired by local folklore.

Cartagena Jazz Festival, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout November
If you’re a fan of jazz, head to the coastal city of Cartagena in November where the city is playing host to its annual Jazz Festival. There are concerts throughout November as well as free "street jazz" every Saturday at 12.30pm on the Plaza del Icue.

Seville European Film Festival, November 4th -12th
This popular event showcases the best of European cinema in a public-friendly format. On offer are features, documentaries and short films. Movies competing this year include those by directorsTobias Lindholm (A War), Jan Gassmann (Europe, She Loves) or Cristi Puiu (Sieranevada).

International Kite festival, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands November 10th - 13th

An incredible selection of kites will be taking to the skies over the magnificent beach of La Oliva on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura in what has now become an annual festival.
Madrid Horse Week, November 24th - 27th

Equestrians from around the country will flock to Madrid for Spain's major horse-riding event. With both serious competitions and fun activities, this fest has something for every horse-lover: show-jumping contests, dressage, acrobatic performances and even pony-riding for kids. The world's top professionals will even be on-hand to host training sessions.
