Hundreds of people took part in Floury Sunday, or Domingo Fareleiro in Galician, on Sunday, in which participants pummel each other with flour in a purification ritual.

This weekend marked the beginning of 'Entroido', a month of carnival festivities leading up to the beginning of Lent.

On Saturday, Xinzo de Limia celebrated Fireworks day followed by Sunday's flour fest, reported local newspaper, La Voz de Galicia.

Over the next couple of weeks, the district of A Limia will play host to a number of festivities including 'Women's night', when groups of women enjoy dinner together and men have to dress up as women to leave the house.
